St. Luke’s Attends the Princeton Model United Nations Conference

Abby Abbott, Assistant Head of Upper School & Model UN Advisor
St. Luke’s students recently participated in the Princeton Model United Nations Conference (PMUNC). Fifteen team members showcased their passion for global affairs and critical thinking skills as they worked with Princeton University students to address current and historical international issues.

During PMUNC 2023, St. Luke's delegates explored historical crisis committees, addressing and reconstructing pivotal moments such as Watergate, the Mexican PRI 1988 election, the Fall of the Roman Republic, and the Salem Witch Trials. Additionally, some of our delegates participated in committees modeled after current United Nations General Assembly committees, such as the Economic and Financial Council (ECOFIN) and the Special Political Committee for Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL). This dynamic experience allowed students to think quickly, propose innovative solutions, and collaborate with peers worldwide.

Congratulations to Executive Board member Gigi McWhorter '25 for receiving an honorable mention for being an outstanding delegate in the Salem Witch Trials. Our club also extends a heartfelt appreciation to club co-president Reese Kubick '25 for her leadership and organizational prowess.

The success at PMUNC 2023 exemplifies how St. Luke's MUN team brings our school's mission of instilling confidence, commitment to service, a strong moral compass, and a love of learning into vibrant action, preparing our students to lead with humanity in the global arena. St. Luke’s MUN experience enhances public speaking and research skills and allows our students to deeply engage with the world and each other.

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia hosts our next Upper School off-campus tournament from January 25 to 28. Please email abbotta@ngskmc-eis.net if interested.
